The future arrival of the high-speed train in Parma gave MBM Arquitectes the chance to design a space that overcomes the architectural barrier of the existing tracks and connects the historic centre to northern districts. This was achieved by creating a new symmetrical square linked to a street and the new station, situated beneath the tracks.
The recovery of the district of Via Pasubio took the form of three basic interventions: the construction of a road to connect Via Palermo and Via Pasubio; the definition of a square with shops and housing, and the design of a park and an underground public car park beneath the new road layout.
