ARCHITECT'S COMPETENCES
Description The architect concieves the spaces that shelter human activities and living, and takes part in all that concerns the act of construction and equipment of these spaces. The architect intervenes in the definition, programation, conception, elaboration and execution of buildings. Town and regional planning, consulting and technical expertise.
 
MECHANISM CHECKING LICENSE TO PRACTISE
Description There is a list of authorised architects that appears every year in the official bulletin, and the Register of the OAT (Tableau). The authorities check if the architect is registered and authorised to practice (e.g. municipal authorities, tourist offices -in the case of projects relationed to the tourism-, or other public organisms /such as ministries/).

Description Decennial
Source Act 94-9 (of 31 January) on liability and technical control, Act 94/10 (of 31 January) that modifies the Insurance Code, Decree 78/71 (Art. 41) on the liability of architects, engineers and quantity surveyors.

Description There are two types of insurance. 1. When starting a professional practice, the architects have to contract an insurance for all the activities. This is however not verified afterwards. 2. There is a compulsory insurance for each project (especially big projects). Usually, it is the client that contracts an insurance and recovers the percentage from each one of the intervenants.

PROCEDURE
Submit the application to the Ministry of Equipment and Habitat. The Ministry consults the OAT and in case of accord, authorises the inscription in the OAT Register (Tableau).

Sworn translation of documents, registration fees.

Origin 1 (all origins) Documents that prove the requirements stated above - a certified copy of the diploma, nationality certificate, certificate that proves that the architect has not been object of disciplinary or criminal sanctions, a declaration describing the mode of exercise and type of practice, payment of registration fees.
